What Is Tarot?

Tarot is a deck of 78 illustrated cards used for reflection, storytelling, and personal guidance. Each card carries rich symbolism — characters, scenes, and emblems that invite you to look at your life from new angles.

A traditional deck has two parts: 22 Major Arcana cards, which explore life's bigger themes — beginnings, change, challenge, fulfilment — and 56 Minor Arcana cards, which reflect everyday experiences. The Minor Arcana is divided into four suits: Wands (action and passion), Cups (emotions and relationships), Swords (thought and truth), and Pentacles (work and resources).

In a reading, cards are drawn and their symbolism is interpreted in relation to your question. Many people use Tarot as a mirror for the mind — a way to surface thoughts, feelings, and possibilities they had not fully considered.

Is Tarot Scientific?

No — Tarot is not scientifically proven to predict future events. There is no scientific evidence establishing Tarot as a reliable method of forecasting specific outcomes.

Many people nonetheless value Tarot as a reflective or spiritual practice: a structured way to explore thoughts, emotions, perspectives, and decisions. Like journaling or meditation, its worth lies in the reflection it prompts, not in supernatural claims.

We present our readings in that spirit — as thoughtful, symbolic guidance for self-reflection, offered with respect for both believers and skeptics alike.

How Does a Tarot Reading Work?

Your online reading follows a classic three-card spread — simple, focused, and personal to your question.

  1. Card 1 — Your Situation Reflects the heart of your question and the circumstances surrounding it.
  2. Card 2 — Guidance Offers perspective, wisdom, or a quality to draw on as you move forward.
  3. Card 3 — Possible Direction Suggests where current energies may lead — a possibility to consider, not a fixed fate.

Your interpretation weaves together your question, the symbolism of each card, how the three cards relate to one another, and the language you have chosen for your reading.

A reading offers perspective, not promises. It will not predict a guaranteed outcome — but it may illuminate paths you had not seen.

A Brief History of Tarot

Tarot began as something far more ordinary than mysticism — a card game.

  1. 1400s — A parlour game In 15th-century northern Italy, hand-painted tarocchi (or trionfi) decks were made as playing cards for noble families — elaborate trump cards added to an ordinary deck for games, not fortune-telling.
  2. 1700s — The mystical turn In the late 18th century, French writers began reimagining Tarot as something mystical. Antoine Court de Gébelin claimed — without evidence — ancient Egyptian origins for the cards, while the fortune-teller Etteilla produced one of the first decks designed for divination.
  3. 1800s — Occult symbolism Nineteenth-century occultists, including Éliphas Lévi, wove Tarot into esoteric systems of symbolism, linking the cards with astrology, Kabbalah, and spiritual philosophy. Later traditions associated the Major Arcana with a journey of personal transformation.
  4. 1909 — The modern template Arthur Edward Waite and artist Pamela Colman Smith published the Rider-Waite-Smith deck, whose fully illustrated scenes made each card's meaning vivid and accessible. It became the visual template for most modern decks — and the symbolic tradition that inspires our own original artwork.
  5. Today — Many paths Today Tarot is used in many ways: spiritual practice, creative inspiration, and reflective self-exploration. Our readings continue the reflective tradition — using symbolism as a mirror for thought, not as a claim about the future.

Major Arcana 22 cards The 22 Major Arcana cards trace life's great themes — from new beginnings to fulfilment.
The Fool

Beginnings, spontaneity, and the leap of faith. The Fool marks the start of a journey taken with an open heart — curiosity over caution. In reflective guidance, it may invite you to notice where fresh energy or a new chapter is calling.

The Magician

Willpower, skill, and resourcefulness. The Magician gathers every tool — ideas, words, effort, resources — and puts them to conscious use. As guidance, it suggests you hold more capability than you think; the question is how you direct it.

The High Priestess

Intuition, mystery, and inner knowing. Seated between opposites, she guards knowledge that reveals itself in stillness rather than noise. Reflectively, she may point to answers already forming beneath the surface.

The Empress

Nurture, abundance, and creative growth. The Empress embodies comfort, care, and the patient tending of what matters — projects, relationships, or yourself. She may ask where your life needs more warmth and attention.

The Emperor

Structure, authority, and stability. The Emperor builds order from chaos through discipline, boundaries, and clear decisions. As guidance, he may highlight the need for a steadier foundation or firmer leadership.

Tradition, guidance, and shared wisdom. The Hierophant represents teachings passed down — mentors, institutions, spiritual or cultural practices. He may suggest learning from established paths, or examining which traditions you follow and why.

The Lovers

Union, values, and meaningful choice. Beyond romance, the Lovers speaks of alignment — between people, or between your actions and your deeper values. It may mark a decision where honesty of heart matters most.

The Chariot

Determination, direction, and victory through will. The Chariot moves forward by harnessing opposing forces toward one goal. It may reflect a time to take the reins, focus your energy, and drive toward what you want.

Quiet courage and gentle power. Strength is not force — it is patience, compassion, and mastery over impulse. It may suggest that softness, not pressure, will resolve what you are facing.

The Hermit

Solitude, reflection, and inner guidance. The Hermit steps back from noise to find clarity alone. As guidance, it may invite a pause — time to think deeply before acting, and to trust your own counsel.

Wheel of Fortune

Cycles, change, and turning points. The Wheel reminds us that circumstances rise and fall; nothing stays fixed forever. It may signal a shift already in motion — and the value of adapting gracefully.

Fairness, truth, and accountability. Justice weighs actions and consequences with a clear eye. It may ask you to look honestly at a situation — including your own part in it — and choose what is right, not just what is easy.

The Hanged Man

Pause, surrender, and new perspective. Suspended upside-down, this figure finds wisdom by seeing the world differently. It may suggest that waiting — rather than pushing — will reveal the answer.

Death

Endings, transformation, and release. Rarely literal, Death marks the close of one chapter so another can begin. It may point to something you are ready to let go of, even if parting feels difficult.

Temperance

Balance, moderation, and patient blending. Temperance pours between extremes to find the middle way. As guidance, it counsels calm, measured steps and the healing that comes from equilibrium.
